A Tribute to Veterans
Who Just Happen to be Women
They left their homes and loved ones to serve our country, just like men.
They served our country with honor, pride and dignity, just like men.
They wore their uniforms with honor, pride and dignity, just like men.
The choice of duty was not theirs to make, just like men.
The choice of weapons was not theirs to make, just like men.
Their hearts ached when a comrade went into battle, just like men.
They prayed for their comrades' return, just like men.
They cried when they lost a comrade, just like men.
Some of them died serving our country, just like men.
So why are they treated differently?
When all is said and done,
they were not just women in uniforms,
like men were not just men in uniforms.
They were Americans who served their country
with honor, with pride, and with dignity.
This country should honor them, be proud of them,
and
show them the dignity and respect they deserve.
